A primary goal for healthcare leaders is to build high-functioning nursing teams that provide safe, inclusive care tailored to the complex and unique needs of patients. In today’s diverse healthcare landscape, cultural safety is essential and must be embedded in nursing practice. Achieving this requires the development of cultural competence, which involves understanding and applying the principles of equity, diversity, inclusivity, and belonging. However, these concepts can be difficult to interpret and apply due to their complex and multifaceted nature. While a broad range of literature exists to enhance cultural awareness and knowledge, there remains a gap in practical, nurse-specific resources that support the personal journey of self-reflection. This reflective process is foundational to practicing cultural humility, which is essential for building trust and delivering culturally safe care. By supporting nurses through targeted resources and tools, healthcare leaders can help ensure that nursing teams are equipped not only with clinical skills, but also with the cultural competence needed to meet the needs of all patients respectfully and effectively.
