In this Summer 2025 WeResearch Webinar, researchers from Western University will present results from a recent provincial symposium with key partners from the long-term care and home and community care sectors regarding solutions for the recruitment and retention of the nursing workforce in these settings. The chronic nursing shortage has worsened working conditions for the nurses in long-term care (LTC) and home and community-care (HCC), thereby creating challenges for recruitment and retention. The Dr. Denise Connelly Research Lab at Western University partnered with WeRPN-BEGIN to host the Building Retention and Innovation: Knowledge Exchange Symposium (BRIDGES) with key partners from the LTC and HCC sectors. Ten researchers from across Ontario shared their work related to rebuilding the nursing workforce in Ontario LTC and HCC. This research informed nine questions that were posed in round-table discussions with key partners from LTC and HCC, including educators, policy influencers, point-of-care nurses, administrators, employers, nursing students and representatives from professional associations. WeResearch updates and upcoming opportunities were also shared.
