In a poster presentation for WeRPN’s 3rd Annual Research Symposium: Shaping Practice and Innovation, Victoria Pringle highlighted her interest to become an RPN research fellow, her fellowship experience and preliminary study outcomes. Victoria shared “in my 8 years of practice in the operating room as an RPN, I’ve witnessed the evolution of the RPN role but also noticed ongoing barriers to being utilized to our full scope of practice. My passion for nursing research and desire to contribute to evidence-based practice led me to pursue this fellowship with the WeRPN. With the support of my mentors at Toronto Metropolitan University, we developed a research proposal to explore the utilization of RPNs in the operating room (OR) aligned with my passion for advocating for our profession in this unique setting. The WeRPN fellowship provided a valuable platform to learn, develop my skills, and actively contribute to advancing RPN involvement in research. Collaborating with a diverse team of researchers has reinforced the importance of amplifying the voices of RPNs to drive meaningful change and innovation in the OR and beyond”.
