WeRPN is calling for mandatory vaccinations for health-care workers across the province.
As Ontario sees prevalence of contagious variants rise and braces for a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic this fall, there is growing urgency to take all steps possible to keep our patients, clients and residents safe. There is robust scientific evidence that vaccines are a safe and effective way of reducing the spread of COVID-19. Ensuring that health care workers in direct care roles are vaccinated will help protect vulnerable patients, residents and clients, and safeguard the capacity of our health system. Ontario patients, resident and clients have a right to feel confident and protected knowing that their health care provider has been vaccinated.
WeRPN recognizes that some health care workers are unable to be vaccinated due to an existing medical condition and urges government and employers to work together accommodate these individuals.
Together, we can take action to end this pandemic. We are calling on all health care workers to do their part and get vaccinated.
