WeRPN Statement on the proposed LTC legislation

by WeRPN

WeRPN fully supports government’s decision to repeal and replace the 2007 Ontario Long-term Care Act. After the tragedies that occurred as a consequence of COVID-19, there is a need to restore trust in Ontario’s long-term care sector.

For our members, the proposed improvements to hours of daily direct care per patient are important to delivering the level of care they were educated to provide. For persons in care and their loved ones, the Resident Bill of Rights, aligned with the Human Rights Code and based on a palliative care philosophy, should bring comfort and rebuild confidence in Ontario’s long-term care sector.

WeRPN looks forward to participating in the consultation process that will precede the proclamation of the new Act.
