Interviewing

Introduction

Hosted by Gabrielle Bridle, RPN, Career Advisor at WeRPN, our step-by-step guide to interviewing will walk you through, the key elements to achieve interview success and land your dream job in nursing! Gabrielle will explain how best to describe your strengths, how to make a great first impression, how to see if you’re a good fit for the position, how to best market yourself and much more.

Preparing

Preparation is essential for achieving interview success! The more effort you put into carefully preparing for your interview the better your chances of being the successful candidate for the job! A positive attitude and confidence are key; it is important to research the organization, do a thorough self-assessment, and practice interview questions before hand.

The Actual Interview

Organization is the most important part about the actual interview; have extra copies of all your paperwork, know where you’re going and how to reach the contact person. Learn how to decrease anxiety and make a great impression with tips like breaking the ice and being aware of your body language.

The Follow Up

After the interview it is important to reflect on how it went – review the interview with a colleague to receive support and feedback. To demonstrate professionalism the wrap up details are important, ensuring your references are ready upon request, knowing how to enquire about the status of the decision-making process, and how to accept rejection professionally are the final steps in the interview process.
